Rain Garden
Function and beauty intersect with the installation of a rain
garden. This project was designed and implemented to
manage rooftop runoff by funneling it into the rain garden where
it can infiltrate into the ground naturally. The center of the
sunken garden is planted with Elks Blue Rush, a versatile plant
that will withstand seasonal “wet feet” as well as summer time
droughts. Rain gardens are beneficial to the community, as
they lessen the strain on urban storm sewers and prevent
potentially polluted water from reaching rivers and streams.
